Site Sixteen – Thicketty Run Camp

Turn right on Russ Moore Road for 0.9 mile. (Note: At 0.7 mile there is a stop sign. Keep left.) For a while you will be traveling on relatively narrow and sometimes poorly paved roads, but they run on or close to Braddock’s Road. Turn left on the Moore’s Grove Road for 0.3 mile. On your left nestled between two branches of a driveway is the marker for the Thicketty Run Camp occupied by Braddock’s troops on the nights of July 4-5 and 5-6, 1755. It was from this camp that Braddock sent out spies to reconnoiter Fort Duquesne. |
