Site Sixteen – Thicketty Run Camp

This weathered historical marker stands where Braddock’s Army spent the night of July 4-5, 1755.  The marker reads:

Braddock’s Military Road 1755

Thicketty Run Camp

This tablet marks the site of General Edward Braddock’s seventeenth encampment.  Braddock’s army camped here July 4-5, 1755, having marched six miles from Salt Lick Camp.  The army forded Sewickley Creek about one half mile south west of Hunkers, provisions with a detachment of a captain and one hundred men joined Braddock’s army at this point.  Six miles beyond is Monacatootha’s Camp.
