This is the second in a series featuring products made in Westmoreland County. The topic of specialty and novelty glass produced by Behrenberg Glass and J.H. Millstein Company will be presented. Descendants of the founders of these two companies, John Behrenberg, Jr. and Jack Millstein, will be the featured speakers.
Historically the Behrenbergs specialized in producing and decorating bent glass advertising faces for gasoline pumps. Today it specializes in the manufacture of glassware for restaurants, hotels, and crafters. From 1943 to the late 50s, J.H Millstein Company produced the highly detailed glass candy containers that became charming playthings for children and have now become sought-after collectibles for adults. We encourage people coming to the program to bring their glass candy containers to show.
