Colonial Court Days
Saturday, July 14, 2012
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Step back in time to when Hanna’s Town was the county seat of Westmoreland County and the site of the first English court west of the Allegheny Mountains. Sessions of Colonial Court, based on actual cases heard at Hanna's Town between 1773 and 1786, will be recreated at 11 AM and 2:00 PM outside the tavern at Historic Hanna’s Town. Along with hearings for disorderly conduct and selling liquor without a license, cases will be presented against an “alleged” horse thief and an indentured servant girl accused of stealing clothing. See how those who were convicted of crimes paid their debt to society in the 18th century.
