Greensburg suffers its first death from the great flu epidemic.

The first death at Greensburg occurred on Oct. 7 when a high school student passed away. By Oct. 21, there was an area casket shortage, and Youngwood and Latrobe were cited as hard-hit. A week later, there were 2,000 cases of flu in Greensburg and 1,000 in Monessen.
